Kettins Share and Learn
Our small village does not have services located within it, nor a regular bus service. The people who live here are a mix of those that have done so all of their lives and those that are new to our community. We have a mix of ages as well as abilities. We want to provide a way that all of these people can come together to share and learn different activities regardless of their background or personal resources. We hope it will empower individuals to make this a vibrant and active community. The coming together is more important than the actual activity.
Kettins Parish Hall is an umbrella group with representation on it from all the local groups as well as local residents. The Community Council have annual events like the fete in the summer and the Christmas lunch for the older residents but we need something that is more regular and supports people throughout year.
Our Annual Fete
The groups will not be age specific and so will be open to everyone to take part. The cycling and walking route that goes through the village will be used to encourage people to get out and enjoy the countryside. The sharing of skills will help to encourage everyone to join in.
Some bicycles have a variety of uses!
To do this, we need your help with funding for:
- The lunch club will need - tables, chairs and crockery - so that we are not using disposable plastic plates and cups.
- The craft group will need storage boxes and materials
- Café @ Kettins would benefit from table cloths, display units and menus to brand our café to create a welcoming environment for all.
- And the Summer school will need equipment for activities as well as badges and certificates to encourage participants.
We know that these are the type of activities that people will attend because we have asked them at consultations and through questionnaires.
Our people are the heart of what we do. It has sometimes been hard work but also a lot of fun. And the enthusiasm from the residents has been inspirational.
So we ask two things of you.
Please vote on the Aviva Community Fund page as every vote is precious to us. We are a small community and need to ask many people to help us with this.
If you are able to buy a reward for coffee, cake or soup through this crowdfunding campaign that would be fabulous.
Or maybe help us with the Sponsor a Brick to aid the wider developments? You will still get coffee, cake and soup - who can resist a bowl of soup or coffee and cake!
