Thanks for all your support. The crowdfunding page is now closed. I'm nearly at the 200 miles mark and plodding along nicely. I will update you via Facebook on my progress and what the final figure ends up at next August. For now, £1028 will make a huge difference to the great organisation that is the Royal Naval Association, doing good in your local community keeping Shipmates connected in these difficult times. I cannot thank you enough.

Rough as bulls lugs today and only managed a mile. Thank you for you kind word, sopport and donations. I will make every penny count. Just dropped a bag of goodies off for our Branch Presidents 90th birthday tomorrow. What a grand age to reach! Once again, your support is so very much appreciated. Glenn

Oh my. The donations just keep on coming in. I am truly honoured that with so many other worthy causes to choose these days, you chose mine. You know I will put the money to good use. I connected a 77 year old Shipmate to our last zoom meeting. We had a couple of tinnies too and the banter with him, but forgot to mention his wife Pat who knits poppies for Remembrance stalls throughout Darlington, what a lovely lady. Just wait until I turn up with a ready to go tablet for them. They will be over the moon. Thanks again.

Thank you for the anonymous donation of £40. Your generosity is fantastic and you have not only made my day, but will make a Veteran happy when we present them with a ready to go tablet to search for former shipmates and make new ones via the Royal Naval Association Darlington Branch. Thank you so much once again.

Hi folks, once again thanks for your amazing support. I've nailed the first 50 miles and am feeling quite chuffed with myself. Last night at our monthly zoom meeting I introduced our new 77 year old member to zoom. What a laugh! He was so thrilled to see other members. It really made his day. I also taught him how to send texts using the microphone on his mobile phone. He was very pleased with that know how as he finds it difficult to keep in touch and respond to his family messages due to his artheritis. We shared a pint together and the banter was brilliant. I walked to and from his house and chalked up another 3 miles off my total. Its great getting people connected and your support is so very, very much appreciated. Share our aim far and wide if you can. Talking cheers people up and breaks down the barrier of loneliness.

Hi folks, having never used this or any other fundraising app before, I do hope you are not being plagued by nudges, etc to donate. I know many of you have already done so. As you know, our start date was to be 1 Sep but we had to put our eldest dog to sleep on that date and we were too gutted to start. We have now started our quest with a 4 miler tonight and another run tomorrow. Once we pass from Cornwall into Devon I will update you with our total again. For now £771 raised left me with a slack jaw. Seriously, in 72 hours! You are incredibly kind and you can be assured the money will go to connecting our senior community, break down the barriers of lonliness and bring banter and comradeship to our local community. Don't forget, serving members can join the Royal Naval Association free of charge and parents, family members, next of kin and those who align with our values of unity, patriotism, loyalty and comradeship can join as associate members of their local branch. Together is better and lots can be sorted with banter (friendly leg pulling), a brew and a biscuit. For starters, it's always good to talk. Thanks again. Glenn & Sue

Oh my word! Truly I am blown away by your donations. I had hoped to start "virtually" from Lands End yesterday but, unexpectedly, we had to put our eldest dog to sleep. Give us a couple of days to come to terms with this then we will be on the move. Your support is awesome. Please feel free to share my crowd funder should you wish. Every penny will make a difference to those who have already given so much before us. You are all wonderful people and your continued support will keep me away from the biscuit tin🍪👍😂

All the very best, shipmate; what a great thing to do and an excellent way to mark leaving the Service and becoming a member of our great veterans' community. BZ!
