Hello! I'm Katalina and I'm trying to raise £5850 to cover my tuition for a Masters of Science in Publishing at Edinburgh Napier University.

Since graduating from the University of Glasgow with an Undergraduate Masters in English Lit, I have pursued jobs in copywriting, bookselling, and digital publishing for the Audio department at Little, Brown in London.

I have volunteered as a Writing Mentor at the Ministry of Stories in London, a non-profit dedicated to nurturing creativity and literacy in East London youth. I have also volunteered as a Fiction Committee Member for the judging panel of the Red Cedar Awards in Canada.

Through these experiences, I discovered my passion for championing diverse stories and voices and I want to pursue a postgraduate degree in Publishing to help broaden my skills and find my place within the industry.

Edinburgh Napier University's programme is a cracking course which focuses on practical skills and projects, work experience, networking, and fully equipping students to jump into a publishing career!

One of the only two in Scotland, the course is unique in its industry-focused project-based education. It is also the only doubly-accredited postgrad publishing provision and has received the Creative Skillset Tick. The professors work closely with leading bodies and organisations in Scottish publishing, such as the Professional Publishers Association.

All funds raised will go towards paying my tuition for this course (minus Crowfunder's 8% fee from the total raised).

A scholarship was essential for me to complete my undergrad. Regrettably, there is very limited postgrad funding, and competition for scholarships is fierce.  There's a critical lack of funding in the arts in general, as well as in humanities education. As a future publisher, I am dedicated to breaking elitism in academia as well as ensuring the arts are accessible for all.

I intend to pursue other bursary and grant opportunities that are available to me. I also have some savings which will go towards tuition and living costs and I plan to find part-time employment during my studies to help cover as much of these costs as I can.

Donations will be exchanged for rewards of your choosing and I'd like to thank you for taking the time to read my campaign and for your generosity.

Many thanks,

Katalina x
