KARELE supports children and young people with a wide range of different needs . We have created an atmosphere where horses and humans can come together and heal.
We are based by East Linton , East Lothian at Sunnyside Farm . Over the past 5 years we have had a social impact with the work we do with our horses . We give back the confidence , self esteem , resilience and empowerment children and young people lose through social bias . We give them skills that are transferable into everyday life .
However our facilities are tired and need some attention. Our facilities are in need of a critical upgrade and we are focusing this crowdfunding on our riding arena and the fencing which is vital to keep the horses and humans safe.
KARELE is a unique facility within the Lothian's that aims to engage and support people who face multiple exclusion. We offer a holistic therapeutic approach providing practical support alongside the promotion of well-being. Creativity is central to what we do and with each service offered we aim to build confidence, self-esteem and self-worth, treating each person with dignity and respect.
EFAL ( equine facilitated activities and learning ) this is where we have time grooming , walking with our pony depending on the client's needs / abilities . We have had positive results with our users . This is where the individual learning takes place . It is different for everyone and this is when we introduce a reflective practice skill lead programme . KARELE is “the right place at the right time with the right people” to connect and learn or heal or challenge .
We are in need of an upgrade to our menage , which has been hit hard this Autumn and is becoming a health issue . We need to drain and resurface the arene and replace the surrounding fence .
