We have been working on building up a whole community of 140 families who were just eking out an existence on the edge of society. We began with the idea of a micro-farm where they would be able to grow vegetables and fruit and perhaps produce livestock to eventually sell. After 5 years we are elated to say that the project is now almost fully self sustaining - this year receiving their registration to sell produce on the open market. We have provided jobs, given children regular hot meals to eat and giving back hope to a community who had nothing.
With the farmhouse complete, our project leader Costel will be able to move his family into the home, giving the farm constant security and surety for the animals welfare. He will be able to invite guests to stay at the home providing their wealth of expertise to help him grow the farm and already through the sale of veg and livestock Costel has purchased more land for the community to enable them to grow even more.
For a charity as small as we are, we feel we have achieved a magnificent project in bringing a whole community out of desperate poverty and giving back hope in their lives. We hope to continue to build more micro-farms helping more families.
