Jodie's Life Changing help

Jodie's Life Changing help

My daughter suffers with scoliosis, I need to build her a gym in the garden with specialist equipment, that will help her back condition

Unfortunately, this project was not successful

Jodie is a patient at Great Ormand Street Hospital. She has Scoliosis, which is twisting & curvature of the spine. Her spine is in a 'S' shape.  She was diagnosed this when she was four. she had her first operation in April 2012, where she had metal rods inserted in her back. She has been an outpatient at Great Ormand Street ever since, and is under 5 different departments at the hospital, and has to go the pain clinic once a month.

In October 2016 we were devastated to find out she now has another curve in her back, this time in the middle of her back.  She is in pain every day, and. Is on regular medication to help her sleep and for the pain.  She also uses a TENS machine to control the pain. The condition without correction will get progressively worse.  The 'S' shape in her spine will increase and stiffen leaving her bent over to one side if left uncorrected. Due to the twisting nature of scoliosis her rib cage is rotated , and has a protruding left shoulder and one shoulder is higher than the right.  If this condition gets worse, it can have a serious effect on her internal organs.

If she has more surgery, it will jean all her spine is fused and she would lose her mobility and flexibility and have a huge effect on her quality of life, and wouldn't be able to do the simple things in life we all take for granted.

I want to build her a gym in my back garden that will have specialist equipment and wall bars to enable Jodie to do specialised exercises for her back condition, to strengthen her spine and the muscles surrounding the spine. To build this will cost in the region of approx £30,000 which I simply cannot afford, so I am setting up this page to help raise the money for my project.

As a mum, I want to do everything I can to help her control the pain, and help her with the exercises she needs to strengthen the spine. It is really hard to see Jodie in pain every day, and feel so helpless, and have so many mixed emotions of guilt, sadness and endless worry about her health and her future.

Thank you for taking time to read this, and please share with as many people as you can to help spread the word.
