Role

As CFO at Crowdfunder UK you’ll be a key member of the executive leadership team. The business is headquartered in Newquay, Cornwall; with locations across the south of England. The role will combine remote and office working.

This is a part time role, with a commitment to a minimum 3 days per week, with a competitive salary + equity.

We’re looking for a CFO with a proven Finance Leadership track record. You will work in a dynamic, responsive, and creative environment, playing a pivotal role in shaping and delivering business growth and performance. We require an entrepreneurial CFO, preferably with platform / fintech experience to help take our business to the next level. Working in partnership with the executive leadership team, you will help define a course for creating value for all our stakeholders, and navigate the commercial opportunities and challenges present in an innovative and growing business.

As well as setting and leading the strategic finance agenda, you will lead a small finance team responsible for delivering all aspects of finance operations. financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reports, company audits, compliance, and bank relationships. You will work with the executive team to make decisions regarding company's financial strategy and operations.

Responsibilities

Develop financial and tax strategies to optimise financial performance

Oversee development of our Value Creation Plan, budgets, forecasting and monitoring processes

Lead development insights and analysis to assess and effectively communicate business performance. Devise and deliver remedial strategies for performance issues

Develop strategies, build and maintain processes for managing financial and commercial risks

Monitor and control of key commercial and regulatory obligations including loan covenants, tax regulations, and fundraising regulator guidelines

Work with the stakeholders to ensure that corporate partnerships have effective ROI

Examine employee benefits packages and looks for cost-effective benefits solutions

Responsibility for AML procedures (quasi MLRO in absence of defined governing body)

Analyse and makes investments / acquisitions to ensure the company has a robust and profitable portfolio

Qualifications, experience & skills

Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)

Bachelor's Degree or higher

5-10 Years of Management Experience 

Experience with a relevant fintech, platform or SaaS start-up / scale-up business is highly desirable.

Competencies

Our expectations of the role and the successful candidate are high. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

Technical skills commensurate with a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with over 5 years of finance management experience

A finance leadership track record in a start-up / scale-up fintech, platform or SaaS environment

A commitment and track record of creating stakeholder value through effective financial management

Extensive experience in financing and funding rounds, and partnerships, mergers and acquisitions

Experience of operating under FCA and other regulatory regimes

International expansion, and experience dealing with non-domestic regulators desirable

Highly effective leadership and talent development

Broad ranging stakeholder management experience, including exec and non-exec members, shareholders, and employees

That they’re a skilled communicator, able to distill and articulate technical financial information to a non-technical audience

That they can handle ambiguity and adversity, and demonstrate how they’ve helped other businesses achieve big ambitions
