This Crowd Funding post is based on an "all or nothing" fund raiser. If we don't hit our target, we don't get a penny. If however we exceed the target, every additional penny raised will go to straight to the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity.
25 students from UTC Plymouth are contenders to take part in the Junior Leaders Field Gun Competition this July for the third year running. Alongside the Royal Navy and other UTC's from around the country, we will be spending a week on HMS Bristol on Whale Island in Portsmouth, running the Field Gun at HMS Collingwood.

With a crew of 18 and after a week of physically and emotionally enduring training, we made it to the finals, which as I'm sure you will agree, was a very proud moment for UTC Plymouth. This year however, we aim on returning to Devonport with some silverware!
Currently, the cost of the event per student is around £30 each; a majority of which is absorbed by transport via coach from UTC Plymouth to Portsmouth and back, and appropriate clothing in the form of crew shirts, hoodies and boots. The rest of the cost is covered by the Royal Navy. This year, we have 35 applicants (with a crew requirement of 25) from our Year 11 and Year 12 cohorts and we would really love to offer this to the team for free. In all, we need to raise a total of £1000 to cover the cost of the clothing and travel (the coach costs around £850).
Out of this £3000, we intend to present the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity with a cheque for £2000. As it is our third year attending this prestigious event, we all feel that it is time we gave something back to this valuable charity.
Your contribution to this event would be put towards the hire of the coach from UTC Plymouth to Portsmouth and back and would enable us to purchase the the crew hoodies which would also include your logo.
The shirts will be worn by the Field Gun Crew for the week on the training track in Portsmouth. We are also contacting the Herald as we feel that this story is more than newsworthy and your logo and company name would also be featured in this. If we were to win first, second or third place in the Junior Leaders Field Gun 2018 Competition, we would proudly display a banner outside the College which would also feature your logo, company name and additional text that you choose to add.
