We would like to take some young people to our biennial conference in Shinshiro, Japan to meet their counterparts, share and learn together.

by Newcastles of the World in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom

There are around 100 different "Newcastles", in all languages, around the world, and our organisation brings them together to share interests, common concerns and best practice, and to develop links and projects of practical value. Follow this link to read a little more about what we do - https://newcastlesoftheworld.files.wordpress.com/2018/07/newcastles-of-the-world-article.pdf

At the beginning of October 2018 we will meet in Shinshiro ("Newcastle"), Japan for our biennial conference, where we will review progress since the last conference - in Newcastle, Ontario, Canada in 2016 - and agree a range of objectives and projects to undertake together over the next two years.

In recent years we have been able to run a youth conference, in part being in parallel with the main conference but in part with their own agenda, ideas and projects.

Most "Newcastles" find that their local authority/municipality is able to fund travel and registration fees for their young people, but Newcastle upon Tyne City Council is unable to assist. So we are raising funds directly to help get a number of young people to Japan (hopefully up to 6 of them), most of whom who are at school and are members of Newcastle Youth Council. It would be disappointing if young people from our Newcastle were unable to be represented, so we hope that generous donors might help us to our target. We would intend to cover all registration fees (accommodation, food, visits etc) but have asked the young people who wish to come if they can raise their own travel costs.

We hope for your support. Do contact us via newcastlesoftheworld@gmail.com if you have any questions, or if you may wish to contribute in a way other than via Crowdfunder
