Jack Leslie should have been England's first black footballer in 1925. Let's build a statue to be proud of. MORE: https://jackleslie.co.uk/

We just wanted to keep you updated as it's been a short while (okay, it's been a month... wow!) since we hit the target.

We discovered last week that messages had not been coming through to our inbox for some time - Crowdfunder has been very helpful (I think it was my inbox error and I still haven't worked out what the hell went wrong - Matt!) and dug them all out and recovered them for us. We'll be replying to everyone over the next few days - apologies for anyone left hanging.

As you can imagine we needed a little time off to recover after an incredible fundraising campaign and our admin slipped a little (please forgive us!) but just to let you know, if you ordered a Rob Bullen print we are picking them up tomorrow from and will be having a signing session with Rob this week and they'll be on there way asap.

We emailed everyone recently, but if you haven't yet sent us your address for these then please send it to us - jacklesliecampaign@gmail.com

Please check the Facebook page for Shout Outs - more to come, but many are up there and everyone will be on the website soon too.

For the unveiling this won't be for some time, of course, but we shall keep you updated on the commissioning process and then the build itself. We'll release the formal plans for this in the next few weeks - we've had many brilliant artists send us designs and maquettes (small models of their statue proposal) but we won't rush this as we want to take our time to find the best sculptor that really gets the campaign and Jack's story. And, of course, we are consulting the family, Plymouth Argyle and the city council on this to ensure a smooth passage to the excitement of the unveiling - we'd love that to be later next year, 2021, the centenary of Jack signing for The Pilgrims.

And if you contributed to have your name, business name or group on the plinth then we'll be in touch with you too soon also to ensure you are kept aware of the design and plans for the recognition of your donations. Huge thanks for your contributions!

Please do email us with any questions - jacklesliecampaign@gmail.com - and to all of you, thank you again for your donations and messages of support. We really appreciate it.
