I am a young ukulele song writer who is hoping to raise money to record an album
I really hope the video makes sense and I haven't rambled on too much. I am a 20 year old Psychology student and this time last year I was suffering from really bad General and Social Anxiety Disorder. I suffered from massive panic and shame attacks which eventually made me a shell of a person.
But then I bought myself a £30 Blue Moon soprano ukulele on my 19th birthday. Many things pushed me towards this but it was one the best decisions I've made. Just the routine of waking up to learn a new song was enough to help me gain a bit of control and independence in my life. It also gave me courage to realise my other dream of travelling which I never would've thought I'd be brave enough to do.
Earlier this year, realising that my Blue Moon was failing on me, I bought myself a Rubin Rosewood Tenor ukulele for £50 online. A few tweaks were made but this ukulele helped me kickstart the beginning of writing my own songs. A few months later I have now written about 18 songs. The difference since being able to start writing these has been staggering. I feel a hell of a lot more confident and sure of myself and have started regluarly been attending open mic nights to showcase these songs.
And now I would like to record these songs. I hope for this album to become a symbol that those who have anxiety disorder or just afraid of realising their goals and dreams. To hopefully show others what saying Yes to these dreams can do. Or to at least shine a little bit of light into people's days.
As explained in the video the recording studios in my area charge £30 for an hour's recording and up to 8 hours all day recording for roughly £130. A whole days recording would allow me to be able to record all my songs and to be able to have them mastered and improved by professional mixers at the studio. I am torn between two companies but both of them are both experienced enough that I know that this album will be of the highest quality.
As a reward, all donators will be sent either an digital or physical copy of the album with unique hand made artwork from yours truly.
Donate as little or as much as you'd like, this would be a dream come true for me and could hopefully kickstart a possible career in the ukulele world (but that's another dream).
For those who decide to donate. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.
