I have been offered a very exciting opportunity through school to take part in an expedition to Cambodia with Camps international during the summer of 2020. This will be after my GCSE’s and I will be taking part in community, wildlife and environmental project work.
There are 25 of us from my school taking part.
There are a variety of projects that I may be involved with – I’ll find out which nearer the time as Camps International are involved in over 100 projects in Cambodia. It may be a community project helping with construction of a kindergarten, a school classroom, community centre – digging the foundations of a building, assembling desks for classrooms, painting the outsides.. Or it may be an environmental project – water conservation, planting seedlings in a rainforest tree nursery, recycling plastic waste into eco-friendly building materials or cleaning beaches to protect turtle nesting sites..
Everyone on the trip is expected to raise the cost of the trip themselves. So over the next 18 months I intend to work hard to raise enough funds to be able to participate in this exciting opportunity.
For my first fundraising endeavour, I will be challenging myself to run 10 kilometres as a sponsored run in Heaton Park on Sunday 18th November. This is my first participation in an organised run – please keep your fingers crossed for good weather for me, and if you can spare any pennies to sponsor me, I have attached a fundraising link below.
Thank you so much for your support.
