International Women's Day Festival Derby

Celebrate 100 years of women's suffrage + inspire the next generation to rise up for women's rights at Int'l Women's Day Festival Derby 2018

We did it!

On 25th Nov 2017 we successfully raised £1,439 of £1,200 target with 22 supporters in 56 days

New stretch target

With more funds we can go even further, adding inspiring professional performers to our line-up and creating a wellbeing zone including relaxation exercises, meditations and therapeutic treatments to reduce anxiety and enhance health and wellbeing

Knowing our HERstory inspires us to change the world again. Help us put on an uplifting mutlicultural International Women's Day Festival in Derby 2018 - an extra special one to mark 100 years since the first group of women won the right to vote in the UK. This is a chance to raise awareness of the Suffragettes - going beyond the myths and headlines, and revealing Derby's hidden HERstory connections, to inspire the next generation. With your support we can highlight local HERoes, women's charities, campaigns and stereotype-busters to make a real difference - watch our short film above to get a feel for the impact our uplifting festival can have on people.

***REWARDS!*** Help us make it happen and  feel that warm fuzzy feeling of giving to the community, and check out our special limited pledge rewards including a motivational mentoring sesssion (£50 pledge), mentoring circle (£65), fab festival freebies (£75), extra festival treats and experiences (£100), pampering just for you (£200) and a special Sisterhood Party for a women's group pledge (£500) or business sponsor package (£1k).  All donors who give their name will also be listed in our commemorative IWD 2018 magazine - a special one to mark the 100 year anniversary of women's suffrage.

How your pledge helps the community: Funds will be used to put on an extra special festival for this anniversary. We will bring together diverse local communities, charities, organisations, artists, musicians, sportswomen, campaigners and women's enterprise to showcase local women's achievements. We will commission creative ways to bring our heritage to life, educate about Suffragette-inspired activism and create a platform for local women and girls to shine at the International Women's Day Festival during Women's History Month, March 2018.

It will be a free community celebration for everyone to enjoy; festival-goers tell us this uplifting multicultural annual event boosts wellbeing, confidence, self-belief, aspirations and sense of community.  The annual festival has a local history going back over 100 years and is organised entirely by an award-winning team of volunteers who work hard to raise funds and plan the event - it is 'by the community for the community'. Please help us to keep this tradition alive and make 2018 the best year yet!
