To end the stigma of male mental health and to try and get people talking about it. Also to promote a welsh company called Brotectors.

by Greg Jacobs in Tonypandy, Wales, United Kingdom

I’m just a normal welsh male with a good job, a house a car, a girl friend..... and severe depression. I bottled it up for years but after a series of bad events it got too much to cope with. I finally went to the doctors for help, which was easier than I thought it would be. I can’t say I’ve had much help in all honesty which is part of the reason I’m trying to get people talking about it, at the minute the doctors just seem to push medication with very little other support (I’m not blaming doctors for this, just stating my facts.) I went for help over a year ago and in that time I’ve gone from a GP to a mental health team and at one stage a crisis team and yet I’ve still not been sent to speak to anyone. I can’t see me being an isolated case and with 2018 having the highest amount of male suicides to date, with an article in December stating it a national emergency I just want to try and do my bit. Whilst looking through the internet for information I come across a new company run by a young welsh man called brotectors. I read his story and couldn’t believe how much we’d had in common and at a time when i really needed to speak to someone it was good to see that I wasn’t the only person going on through something like this. Brotectors aim is to end the stigma and get men talking about their mental health and I’ve decided to try and raise money to try and help them. I’ve decided to do a sky dive to raise money... if I can jump out of a aeroplane to raise money to get people talking, hopefully more men will take the jump to start talking. Thanks for you time, donate what you can.
