Get Outta The Gang is a community organisation tackling gang culture and youth violence in London. Through our community mobilisation work, we offer support to families, including those who suffer the tragedy of losing a child or young person to knife or gun violence. With no parent expecting to bury their child, often the full cost of funerary arrangements cannot be raised, excaberrating the grief of the family, who are unable to provide their loved one with dignity in death.

We are currently supporting the family of 18-year-old Isaiah Ekpaloba to raise the necessary funds for a grave for ashes and headstone at the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium. Isaiah was tragically stabbed to death in Wood Green, on Janaury 9th 2015, and the family want to be able to finally lay him to rest before the first anniversary of his murder, which is fast approaching.

The family have been unable to grieve properly and Isaiah's mother Grace has stressed the huge impact of Isaiah's murder on his two younger brothers, aged fourteen and six, who have been 'terribly affected'.

She adds, 'my eldest son, my baby, was taken away from me in the most horrific way. He was a loving, big hearted individual, who could light up a room with his big smile and cheeky personality. His life was full of promise; he was a talented and well respected actor at the Chicken Shed theatre company and had appeared on TV, also touring schools with the company to talk about the dangers of knife crime. He was a well liked boy who loved being the centre of attention and the best testament of his impact on people is that over 300 people attended his memorial.'

As Get Outta The Gang raises funds online, Isaiah's close friend Pembe has organised a music fundraiser, showcasing the best young talent, taking place Saturday 12th December, 6.30pm - 9.30pm at The Rose Lipman Building, 43 De Beauvoir Road, Hackney, London N1 5SQ.
