To provide our cadets with a safety boat for afloat training at Irvine Harbour.

by Irvine Sea Cadets in Dreghorn, Scotland, United Kingdom

Irvine Sea Cadets are based in Dreghorn, Irvine. We are a uniformed youth training organisation that follows an ethos based on traditions of the Royal Navy. Our cadets are aged between 10 and 18 years old.

Our training has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic whereby we have had to close our doors for over a year to help the country get back to normality and stay safe. As a result, as well as zero training, we’ve been unable to fundraise.

Now that we are able to return to activity, we hope to attract more cadets to our unit and provide even more opportunities to get involved with our organisation.

As well as shore based activities, we offer a number of afloat activities at Irvine Harbour including rowing. To carry out this safely, we need a safety boat to replace our current ageing one.

Afloat training is so valuable to our young people as it offers them not only the ability to develop many skills and attributes such as leadership, team building and confidence but also assists promote positive mental health and well-being.
