To help the team represent Ireland at the 20th Interski Congress in Ushuaia, Argentina 5th to the 12th of September 2015.
Ireland is a small nation in the world of snowsports but has many keen skiers and snowboarders who love the sport. The Irish Association of Snowsports Instructors (IASI) was formed in 1988 and over the years has grown into a very credible organisation that trains and certifies ski and snowboard instructors who work in many different countries around the world.
Every four years the Interski Congress brings together all the snowsports nations of the world to share the latest ideas on teaching methodology and technique. Being at the congress is a vital part of Ireland's development as a nation that qualifies snowsports instructors. IASI's Head of training and Irish Interski Team manager Derek Tate says, "being at the congress to share our own ideas and to learn from others helps us gain greater credibility and helps increase employement opportunities for our members".
The Irish Interski team represents IASI, the Ski Association of Ireland (the National Governing Body) and the Ski Club of Ireland (the National Training Centre).
At the 2015 congress Ireland will be delivering a number of small lectures and running an on-snow workshop. This will be the first time in Ireland's/IASI's history that they will deliver a workshop on-snow to other nations. Below are some details of Ireland's contribution for the forthcoming congress;
