About Us
Boogie Mites Portsmouth traditionally deliver high quality interactive educational music sessions that advance learning, language and literacy skills in the under 5s. These groups, through the use of music, promote mental well-being, encourage reuse and recycle, decrease social isolation – joining diverse groups, through a shared experience and encourage active participation. We use original and traditional music with the Boogie Mites take, hand made instruments made from recycled materials, props and fun topics.
Our Story
A year ago Boogie Mites Portsmouth increased the impact of the joy of our music by creating an Intergenerational Music groups that could be enjoyed by younger generations and older people together. Through these sessions we have been able to impact reduce social isolation and increase community togetherness. Our shared music sessions for the under 5s, their parent’s, carers, practitioners and the over 65s have proved popular. Working alongside Age UK Portsmouth and other care providers in the area we have been able to deliver enjoyable, beneficial sessions. We'd now like to extend the scope of our music offering further sessions Care Home, Early Years Setting and Parents.
Our Vision
We would now like to increase the music that we can offer by employing, training and resourcing new teachers. Although our costs are relatively low, as a small business, the cost of a new teacher has a great impact. Each teacher costs over £1000 to train, kit out and support. We would like to be able to set up 3 more teachers. Although as s a small business we have been able to raise the funds to finance, train and equip one teacher at £1000+ a teacher we are currently unable to train the further teachers needed for the interest we have raised without raising our fees. We'd love to be able to keep our fees low so that more Care Homes and Nurseries can access our music.
Why Support Us ?
Our Intergenerational Music Groups make a real impact on the children and adults who take part.
