Who are we?
The Inspired Taskforce cic is an older person led community group that campaigns to make the world a better place for older people. We provide social activities that entertain, engage and motivate us to improve our wellbeing, physical and mental health. We we also deliver weekly healthy nutritious meals to housebound older people. Please watch our short video for more information.
Where we live in Levenshulme, Manchester we have been in some form of lockdown much longer than in other areas. Some of our members are still choosing to self-shield due to the high covid-19 rates locally. During the pandemic, the lasting friendships we made previously supported each of us through the loneliest of times.
What we did during the pandemic?
Fortunately, we had the support of our workers and the many local volunteers that helped us by delivering food throughout the week through our Meal Buddies on Wheels Service, shopping, collections of prescriptions, and digital support as so many essential services have now moved online (such as GP Services, Banking services etc). They also provided social/befriending support for those are most isolated and lived alone, cut off from family and friends in the Levenshulme/Gorton area (and just a bit beyond!). They even made a weekly radio show on All FM 96.9 too, so we could pass messages onto each other and celebrate our birthdays.
Recently we went independent as a community group (our parent body is Levenshulme Inspire) and we have submitted many grant applications so that we can re-establish our activity program and keep the group up and running. Due to the time delays in grant application approvals, we are facing a short term cash flow problem which we need your help with.
