Project aim

To carry out two community art project in Delhi and Mumbai, working with women, children and rural schools. Using creativity and participatory arts practice to shape a joyful space of respite and learning.

About the project

Your contributions will be donated to projects delivered by three MA Applied Theatre students at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, in and around Mumbai and Delhi. The first is working in collaboration with the SNEHA NGO, who work closely with women in the Dharavi slum. We will be contributing to a ten year collaboration by delivering a story-telling project with a small group of women who identify as victims of domestic violence. We will also be touring around rural schools sharing creative approaches to learning with teachers in training, in connection with the Shishavan Schools Project. The project in Delhi will be in collaboration with the organisation Udayan Care who works with orphaned children.

We have been invited to work on both projects, and are all experienced practitioners specialising in the applied field. We hope you share our belief that creativity, and participatory arts practices can be hugely beneficial to both learning and enhancing quality of life, as well as providing a playful and joyful space of respite when experiencing challenging personal circumstances.

The projects will run from May 22nd - June 25th.

We have been lucky enough to recieve funding from the Leverhulme Trust for the majority of the trip but we are just a few hundred pounds short of our budget. Please pledge as much or as little as you can, and be part of this great, worthwhile project!

Thanks for your support!
