Following the sudden, unexpected death of the wonderful athlete and man who was Gary Smith, we’re raising money for a local charity close to his heart.
Gary never fully retired, working up to the beginning of the Covid lockdown as an exam envigilator at Northgate High School. Both his daughters attended the school and Gary loved his role enforcing exam rules, but mostly supporting students through a stressful experience. He enjoyed working with the students, recounting his conversations with pride. Recently a student asked him if he had children. Yes, he proudly replied, my two daughters are 40 now.
Gary also supervised IT sessions, having spent his career in Research and Development at BT.
In his memory, we’re fundraising for Northgate High School PTA who fund projects from IT equipment to sports programs, also supporting pupils in their mental wellbeing.
