Pebsham Community Centre was erected in 1969 and was closed and boarded up for nearly 2 years in May 2017.
The building is in the heart of Pebsham and would provide all sorts of activities and events suitable for all in the local and surrounding areas. The building consists of 2 halls, a kitchen, toilets abd cupboard spaces.
A group of us came together and worked tirelessly to get the building reopened from keeping the utilities on to organising community clean ups and putting donation pots around local shops in the area. We managed to reopen the building in September 2018.
Over that time we managed to get a regular source of income by hiring out one of the halls to classes and groups and put on fundraising events. To ensure the current bills were kept up to date.
The other hall became out of action due to a flood in the hall which ruined the flooring in early 2018. We managed to get a grant to get a new floor put down in March 2019. Making the other hall fit for hire.
The building does need a lot of work done to make it a more inviting and safer space for everyone.
Our aim for the money we raise from this crowd funding would be used to replace the boiler and make improvements to our heating system. As the building is damp and can get very cold in the winter.
