I currently work as a drug and alcohol recovery worker in the female prison and the amount of women (of all ages) who come to prison and change their lives then have nowhere to go on release is heartbreaking and on the other hand the amount of commit a crime just so they can come to prison for a bed and a bit warmth is astonishing. I am a firm believer that everyone deserves a second chance. My aim is to raise money to help out in projects and help women with no homes and kids who feel that they can only turn to drugs, prostitution and shoplifting to survive basically, helping them with basic life skills and getting them into projects. My brother is currently the manager of a housing service in the north east and has connections to housing providers, women tend to get put into hostels and around 1 in 3 women are sexually assaulted or raped in a hostel so prison seems the safer option.
I would appreciate any contribution and this time of year I know it's hard but hopefully season of good will can come alive.
