HYPE Urban Bikes is running an October Roadshow during the half term (25 - 29 October 2021) across 4 communities in Wirral, with the aim of encouraging more people to be active through the means of bicycles.
The team of mechanics will deliver a cycle event at four different locations that support our local community. Our Dr Bike sessions will enable residents to have their bikes checked and fixed by the team. We will have a short talk and demonstration by one of our mechanics to show people how to fix and maintain their bikes to ensure they can be kept in good working order throughout the year. This will be followed by a community bike ride to encourage our ‘get active’ ethos. Additional information will be provided in relation to road safety, healthy living, cycling equipment do’s and don’ts and ‘being seen’ on roads.
The more funding we receive to do this, the bigger this event will be. Initial funding will cover mechanic's supplies and extra stands that we will need at the event (things like chains, inner tubes, grips - all bike safety essentials). Any extra funding will go to extra staff members so that we can bring our ramps for the kids to have a go at riding, spare bikes and helmets for kids attending to use (ideally we would like to give some of these bikes to the kids that don't have one), more staff to run skills sessions and other activities for the kids attending.
