Hygge Me Academy's Vision is to bring free and low cost resources to our adult neurodiverse community.
There are many children who are diagnosed with neuro-developmental differences such as Autism, ADHD, Developmental Coordination Disorder or Dyslexia that have their support services stopped when they turn 18 years old. This leaves many young neurodiverse adults without the support they need to navigate the workplace or further education. There are also many adults (like me) who recognise their differences as an adult and in turn seek information, guidance and support after being unsupported for much of their life.
The difficulty is that when adults reach out for this help, there are limited support services available to them and those that are available have long waiting times.
Hygge Me Academy wants to change this. We aspire to provide free and low cost accessible resources, supports and webinars so our community can instantly access the supports they need.
There are many professionals and small businesses/charities that are providing amazing services to small pockets of our community. These organisations have an immense impact on the community they serve but their reach is limited. In turn some geographical areas are better supported than others, showing disparity in the types of supports offered across the United Kingdom (UK).
Hygge Me Academy aims is to bring these professionals, charities and support services together on one platform, enabling the work of individuals and small organisations to reach as many people as possible.
Hygge Me Academy's primary objective is to provide supports for neurodiverse adults, but there will also be training available for teachers, therapists and practitioners as well as a section for family supporters. Much of the content on the platform aims to come from community suggestion. Our community members will have the opportunity to request and vote on content that will then be created to meet specific support needs. This provides usable resources that have a 'real life' application.

Accessibility of the platform
Hygge Me Academy prides itself on accessibility. This includes considering the way that the information is presented, layout and colour schemes. This also includes supporting all articles with audio and visuals where appropriate and that subtitles are available on videos and webinar playbacks.
Neurodiversity underpins all that we do
We do not subscribe to the idea that neuro-difference always equates deficit. Instead we believe that neuro-difference is in fact a different way of being and experiencing. As such those of us who are neurodivergent have to live in a world that isn't designed for us. Hygge Me Academy's content is pro neurodiverse expression and opposes methods that promote control and adjustments of natural movements and behaviours that align with social ideals.
Hygge Me Academy's aim is to make learning and support articles as accessible as possible. All profits are reinvested back into our community making Hygge Me Academy a Social Enterprise that will continue to benefit a larger community as we grow.
Hygge is a Nordic philosophy that promotes love, comfort and connection. It is the relief at the end of the day when you take off your shoes (or your bra) and that sigh of relief when you relax with your favourite drink in hand. It is laughter in the park with a picnic, it is the comfort experienced when friends comes to visit. It is that warm, fuzzy feeling you get when watching a movie you love. Hygge is what I aspire to in my everyday and it is also what is made difficult by how I experience the world. I believe that we all aspire to 'hygge' in one form or another and as such Hygge Me Academy believes that by providing appropriate supports it will enable more people to create more opportunities for hygge within their day-to-day.
We need your help!
Hygge Me Academy is aiming to raise at least £2,000 in pledges which will enable us to start sourcing suitable articles from top professionals. For £5,000 Hygge Me Academy can launch on a small stand alone website offering articles and supports. For £10,000 we can turn Hygge Me Academy into a stand alone site offering articles, supports and webinars to neurodiverse adults. For £20,000 we can make Hygge Me Academy into a fully operational support site with articles, webinars and training available to neurodiverse adults, their families and friends and professionals in the field.
The more you pledge the more people will be supported!
