Back Story -
I have over the past 10 years had a number of operations on my hips, resulting in me spending a long time lying on my back. I often woke up with neck and shoulder pains where my head had dropped to one side on my pillow. Whilst recuperating I watched many of these rescue shows, where the first thing they do is put your head and neck in a brace, I often joked to my wife I would like to sleep in one of those.
So this led me down the route of designing a pillow/cushion that supports a person’s head, keeping it lined up with the neck and shoulders, thus allowing a person to sleep with no pain in neck and shoulders.
I did design this many years ago, and if I don’t do it now will never do it.
The Product -
The pillow is designed to support the base of the neck, and having high sides, supports the head and stops it rolling over to one side, keeping it aligned with the neck and shoulders.
I am looking to purchase blocks of foam, in various density, including memory foam. To then purchase cutting equipment to allow me to cut out the appropriate model as per design. To then road test on various members of my family and friends and adjust for the next design, and so on.... Leading to a final version of the pillow.
Who would Benefit -
I can see this benefitting not only individuals such as myself, but also many other people who sleep on their back, care homes and the NHS.
