I have been working on this project for a few months now. I have done my research, viewed many properties in Suffolk and Norfolk and been sampling produce from suppliers to make sure I have the best quality to offer. I will also be sourcing locally as much as possible. I will be supporting the local bakery and green grocer as well as that, I have been contacting suppliers in Norfolk for stock I cant find in the market town of Harleston.
Finally after months of searching and driving miles and miles, I have found the perfect premises for Hungry Cat Cafe. It's a lovely shop that will seat about 20 people at a time, with 2 large bay windows to watch the world go by! Finally the search is over and everything is falling into place.
The cafe will open up early in the morning for breakfast and a cuppa to get your day started and close around 5pm. We will have hot and cold drinks as well as alcoholic drinks available for those days when you need something stronger than a cup of coffee!! There will be breakfast, lunch, snacks and late lunches on offer, all plant based using fresh local ingredients. We will also have cream teas, cakes and bakes as well as hard to find vegan treats. A lovely space for people to enjoy and meet with their friends or family, not only for vegans but for everyone. The idea behind it is, that more and more people will give plant based a go and having more vegan outlets available to us is a good way forward.
I have been making plant based food and cakes for many years and have a lot of experience in vegan cuisine. It is a passion of mine, I really love what I do and get pleasure from sharing my ideas and food with others.
The funds raised will go towards the pre-trading expenses such as solicitors fees, renovations in the cafe to satisfy health and safety requirements, tradesmen like plummers, electricians and decorators, deposits needed before taking over a premises, licences needed, printing and advertising, buying equipment, stock and having a launch party for you to come and sample the food and drinks on offer.
I am also self funding towards this project but don't have enough funds to cover everything as it really costs a lot to set something like this up and so need the help of crowdfunders to put towards the costs and of course there are nice rewards or vouchers in it for you too. Please help support this project so we can have another vegan cafe on the high street that encourages more people to try more plant based foods which will help save the animals lives, our planet and for us to live longer healthier lives. It's also great to have outlets that vegans can go to and order whatever they like without always having to ask what are the vegan options..
I am happy to show receipts for work carried out and expenses to the crowdfunders who support this project, if they would like to see where the funds have gone. Thank you xx
To have a look at the food I make you can head over to my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/hungrycatcafe1 or my Instagram page at https://www.instagram.com/hungrycatcafe1/
There you will see what I have been busy with in the kitchen and know what to expect in the cafe! All food is made by me xx
Picture above is my mushroom and avocado burger with homemade, runny, chilli cheese sauce and salad on a toasted wholemeal bun...
I feel very strongly about veganism and saving our planet whilst we still can.
Cooking and eating good food has always been a passion of mine. I stopped eating meat in 2012 and turned vegan in 2014. Changing to a vegan lifestyle meant I had to be more creative with my cooking and baking. It was very exciting when I started out and still is, I have never eaten as well as I do now as a vegan. Vegan food is so fresh and full of flavour. The fact that one has to get creative with food means that you come up with some amazing dishes that you would never have thought of.
Above, a raw spinach, mushroom & garlic dish. Beetroot Burger and homemade hummus.
The rewards offered can be used in the cafe over time, so if you go for a reward that offers 11 meals, this can be used on several occasions until you've used it up. There are also vouchers available that could be an idea for a gift for someone to use in the cafe on whatever they like. The vouchers and rewards are worth more than their face value. A great opportunity to get more for your buck! You can als just donate towards it if you simply like the idea and want to support it.
Thank you for taking the time to read all about my project and for you part in making it happen. It is very exciting and I look forward to welcoming you all to Hungry Cat Cafe xxxxx
See you at the party!!
