Dear Kind People,
I am Nang Poe Hnin Phyu from Yangon, Myanmar. I am born and raised in Myanmar and I am 24 years old. As a citizen of a developing country, and especially being a minority, I have learned that uniting different ethnic groups and working together towards a peaceful and prosperous country requires a government who is willing and capable, and citizens who are open to changes and cooperation. I believe that every human being deserves an equal chance to be a decent human being, and that is why I am fixated to helping government and people in need.
My family comes from a long line of public officers promoting the virtue of my country, Myanmar. My father, like his father before him, is a senior police officer bringing about justice and peace in our society. I am inspired to carry on my family’s proud legacy of assisting my country in ways that I can. As I grow older and mature, I am certain that I find myself intrigued and fixated to the development and welfare of the people. I want to pursue a higher education that is of excellent from Network on Humanitarian Action - International Association of Universities (http://nohanet.org/masters), a Master's Degree in Humanitarian Action, in order to understand, measure and act on the dynamics of improving the lives of people in Myanmar, as well as other developing countries.
After completing my university studies, I was offered a sales support position in an international healthcare organisation in 2015. As my passion is fixated on helping the development of Myanmar, I have been designated to handle projects in primary healthcare, which is the high priority of the current government.
Meanwhile, I am also volunteering as an English teacher during weekends at a free Education Centre which offers free classes for students with less than 200 USD family monthly income. It has been a great experience to engage with students from all walks of life and an honour to learn their different stories which are truly different from mine. I am enthusiastic to make an impact for people who have fascinating dreams but limited opportunity due to barriers which could be overcome by the change that is needed. Myanmar is infamous for its internal crisis in Kachin State, Rakhine and Northern Shan States. Being a minority myself and seeing the needs and challenges my people face, it has strengthened my belief to pursue a path in humanitarian field. Nonetheless, I would not be able to accomplish it on my own. For the reasons above, I would like to turn my passion into professionalism so that I can become a great asset in the humanitarian field with the help of great professors. I was elated to know that NOHA offers such a unique international program. It resembles a promising opportunity for me to take my first step to practice my acquired knowledge, which would one day allow me to take part in developing the world including my country.
I have been selected to join this program for academic year 2017-2018. However, I am in need of great help from kind people around the world to help me raise funding to pay tutition fees. Please help me achieve my dream to help other people in the world.
