Hugh Brayshaw Racing - Offshore Solo Sailing

To raise funds so Hugh can compete against the best solo offshore sailors in the world in the Figaro 2. The pathway to Vendée Globe victory.

We did it!

On 19th Mar 2017 we successfully raised £2,230 of £2,200 target with 23 supporters in 28 days

New stretch target

If the stretch target is reached then I will be able to compete in my second Solitaire du Figaro. A month long race split into 4 legs starting in Bordeaux in June. It is described as the 'Solo Offshore Racing World Championships' and attracts huge attention.

My name is Hugh Brayshaw and I have been sailing for 13 years, the last 18 months of this in a boat called a Figaro which is raced single handed (on your own) offshore, day and night. It is the hardest and most demanding sailing I have ever done, which is partly why I love it. Just finishing races is a big acheivement, but I am looking more to perform in 2017 and gain traction on my journey to the  Vendée Globe.

It's a long road to the start of the Vendée Globe, with many stages. The pathway I am taking is through this extremely competitive Figaro class which has produced a vast amount of Vendée Globe sailors and all the recent champions.

The money raised through this project will pay the financial costs of running a Figaro campaign, entry fees, boat maintenence, accomodation, race food and drink. More specifically in the 'Solo Normandie' and 'Solo Concarneau', big races on the solo offshore sailing calander and are always well attended by the very best.

I am able to give something back in return for your support, there is a range of rewards available to you if you desire. Solo sailing can be isolating on the water but there is such a great community of supporters on land and I would like you to be a part of that.
