In May/June this year we made up and delivered 398 'Hug in a Mugs' to residents in care homes who have often been forgotten about. Our neighbourhood chaplains project seeks to deliver another 400 hug in a mugs to those people in our community who are lonely and isolated.
Isolation and loneliness has rapidly increased over the last year due to Covid. It's not just elderly people either - its all ages and we would like to give them a gift to share that they are not forgotten about and that we exist as befrienders to support them in post covid recovery.
We are looking for funding in order to purchase items and deliver to those in our community who fit this criteria. We are already working with our local NHS and third sector organisations to make this happen and get referrals as and when they arise.
It was so lovely to see you again today and to say Thank you for all the Hugs in Mugs. A Very thoughtful and well received gift.
Our tenants were delighted with them. We had some fun when I tried to explain what to do with the chocolate covered stick and marshmallows. !
Keep up your good community works and spirit, I know a lot of people have benefitted and gained comfort from this, especially during the pandemic.
