THE ADIRA AND PARTNERS
CHRISTMAS DINNER HAMPERS

Christmas Hampers for Families in Need

We recognise that following the devastating effects of COVID on our communities, many people will have lost loved ones or will have experienced the negative impacts COVID has brought to us, i.e. loss of jobs, not able to see loved ones, etc. This will undoubtedly put a strain on these families causing them to worry about how they will feed their loved ones this Christmas.

We wanted to put a little smile on people’s faces and provide a Christmas meal hamper for those who are struggling to enjoy, with the hope that it takes a little of the stress out of this Christmas.

There will be four different types of hampers available and each hamper will contain a personalised Christmas card that will also have all the contact information of support services open over the Christmas period.
The hampers will also contain a candle for those who have loved ones this year to light on Christmas day in memory of them.

They will will be:

– A meat hamper
– A vegan hamper
– A vegetarian hamper
– A Caribbean hamper

We are incredibly proud to be able to deliver a hamper to those in need this Christmas, as it is full of great ingredients (including fresh seasonings packaged separately) needed to create the perfect Christmas lunch and cooking instructions.  The hamper is generous enough to feed between 6-8 people.  Hampers will be delivered a few days before Christmas so that the frozen turkeys can comfortably defrost.

The hampers consist of:

– A frozen turkey (or veggie equivalent)
– Stuffing
– Gravy
– Fresh vegetables (normally potatoes, brussell sprouts, carrots, parsnips)
– A large Christmas pudding
– Custard
– A sparkling juice
– Shortbread biscuits
– Chocolates
– Rice and peas
– Mac and cheese
– Plantain
– A small gift
– Defrosting and cooking instructions for the turkey

All money raised will go toward to cost of these hampers, any left over funding will contribute toward the ADIRA's other projects which support the mental health of the black community in Sheffield who currently overpopulate the mental health wards and have been more affected by the coronavirus than any other community.
