The YORKSHIRE VETERANS MODEL GROUP provides modelling workshops to bring veterans together and reduce the danger of social isolation.

by Yorkshire Veterans Model Group in Middleton On The Wolds, England, United Kingdom

The YORKSHIRE VETERANS MODEL GROUP welcomes all Veterans of our Armed Forces, Police and Emergency Services interested in model-making as a hobby. We’re a club for Veterans, run by Veterans and our model workshops are aimed to develop (or renew) interest in making models from plastic kits (or even scratch-built from other materials?).

Modelling provides a 'focal point for endeavour' - a long-winded way of saying it provides a hobby that can be yours alone or shared with many others. People in all walks of life who get together to talk and share their interest in any hobby or pastime gain a sense of belonging and of shared values - and so it is with modelling. For Veterans, making models has proven therapeutic value and is now used in several national, rehabilitation programs.

We have the support of Veteran agencies and are the first modelling group to sign the Armed Forces Covenant, so if you are a veteran or provide support to a veteran in the family or your community, give advice and counselling on a professional basis, support a Covenant Delivery Group, help out at one of the many 'Breakfast Clubs' or do voluntary work aimed to support our veterans - you are very welcome! if you're not sure - just ask okay?

The YVMG is mainly self-funded but we welcome donations from allied charities, model companies, local government and others to ensure our workshop are well-provided for. If you wish to make a donation, please do so through our website or by PayPal at yorkshireveterans-mg@outlook.com
