Foxdale Equine Assisted Learning (FEAL) is a registered charity, sited at Foxdale Farm by courtesy of the owners Mr & Mrs Wild.
FEAL works with a range of clients, both groups and individuals. We receive visitors from residential nursing homes, school students, adults and children with additional needs. We also receive people whose mental health benefits from working with our horses and in their engaging with the beautiful natural environment which surrounds us.
The impact of Covid-19 for some has been huge and long lasting. Feelings of Social isolation, depression, anxiety and lack of confidence. We have been offering virtual psychological support to our volunteer group, care homes and other organisations during this difficult time.
As lock down has been lifted, for many people their levels of anxiety have risen and a fear of going outside or taking steps into the outside world has been too much.
Everyone's circumstances have been different, many have been shielding and some opened their doors on the 1st August and have found it too difficult to take those first steps.
Here at Foxdale Equine Assisted Learning along with Dr.Vivien Rushmere Consultant Clinical Psychologist, our horses and dogs we want to offer people an opportunity to reconnect with the outside world.
With the model of Equine Assisted Learning and Walking and Talking therapy side-by-side.
Walking & talking can help shift the sense of being stuck and can facilitate psychological processing. In addition we know that there has been extensive research into the benefits of bringing the outdoors, nature and animals into your life. It reduces anxiety, improves mental well-being and confidence.
Our project will be the first step into new possibilities for some individuals who feel stuck at this time due to effects of Covid-19 .
