How to Bogotá blog - keeping it going!

Project aim

How to Bogotá is a blog for newcomers in Bogotá, Colombia. I hope to raise the money to cover the web-hosting costs for the next 2 years.

About the project

I first started writing my blog 'How to Bogotá' nearly 2 years ago, when I moved to Bogotá, Colombia to join my Colombian boyfriend Javier. I found it very challenging to adapt to life in a city which I found pretty chaotic at times, so my blog was a record of my experiences as I worked out how to do everything I needed to do (eg. finding an apartment and a job, using the TransMilenio, getting taxis..!), and I hoped that it would help others who were planning to move to Bogotá too. It was also my way of looking for the positives in the whole experience, finding the places I loved in Bogotá and ultimately making peace with the city!

I normally still receive a few messages per week from readers asking questions or saying that they've found the blog useful and in the last month the blog has been visited by more than 1600 users, and has received over 7000 page views, so I'm really happy that it's serving a purpose!

I now need to renew the web-hosting plan that I have with Blue Host - part of the cost of running the blog. I am not currently making money from the blog, so I thought I'd crowdfund to see if people would be willing to help keep it going. Due to my mum being ill and me being back in London for that reason, I have not been posting as frequently lately, though I still have plenty of material which I haven't yet had a chance to write up, and I do plan to move back to Bogotá eventually. I also find that much of the information on the blog is still relevant, even as time goes by.

I have until the middle of November before I need to renew the hosting plan, so any small contribution would be greatly appreciated, if you'd like to see the blog continue! I'd need to raise $167 for one year of hosting or $311 for 2 years. I'm aiming for the latter, so my target reflects that, plus the processing fees I expect to pay.

If small businesses with a connection to Bogota or Colombia would be willing to pledge at least £10 (or the equivalent in another currency), I would be happy to write a promotional blog post in exchange for the support. This post would also be promoted on social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google plus).

Many thanks in advance!
