The Honeybirds have been singing together since 2012.
We have been lucky enough to make 2 recordings in that time: one with backing tracks, and one with a live trio.
The last album we made was back in 2014, and we successfully crowdfunded it with the help of family, friends and fans - 4 years is a long time though, so we've been thinking we must to head back into the studio and do another.
And this time, we want to make it even more fantastic, by using a Big Band!
Tom Sharp's Jazz Orchestra are based in Leeds, and have previously won the 'Best Band' in the Great North Big Band competition.
After performing with them as part of the Jazz Leeds Festival, 2018, we started plotting and approached Tom to see if he wanted to collaborate.
To our delight, he said yes!
Then began the tough stuff; we started to tot up the amount of money that a project like this would require.
There's musicians to pay, studios and engineers to hire, licenses to purchase and manufacturing costs to consider.
A big band, plus all the singers of The Honeybirds (Tessa, Jenny, Daisy, Kate and Molly) totals 23 people! That's loads!!
In order to fund this dream, we decided to go back to the crowdfunding model, and ask people to consider purchasing the album in advance; giving us the ability to fund the album as we go, rather than recoup the costs afterwards. Simple!
We also came up with a little list of other things we could offer people, in case they wanted to pledge more. Every little will help though; and we will be very grateful to anyone who donates.
