To create a habitat for bees.

by Brian McNamee in Croydon, England, United Kingdom

Of all the challenges facing the human race today there is nothing more pressing than the loss of our bees. There are many reasons for the demise of bees. From pesticides to farmers taking away hedgerows to make larger fields. This destruction of the habitat of many of our native animals, birds and insects  will in the very near future bring about the extinction of the human race. Our mismanagement of the land we live in has also lead to flooding of our homes from bad drainage and has brought about further issues of its own.

Looking at our back garden I realised that much more can be done, even in this small parcel of land. It is mainly grass with a few trees but nothing substantial to keep our bees thriving. I am looking to transform this space into a habitat for bees and other insects. This will include planting of the right seasonal flowers, placing of the right small scale water features and it seems I may be also able to put in two beehives. The project is unfortunately beyond my budget, so I am looking for your help. Thank you.
