About me:

Hi, I'm Holly. I'm a 24 year old Psychological Science Graduate from a small country town in Australia.

I moved to England with my British passport in December, shortly after I was diagnosed with COVID-19. During lockdown I decided to volunteer my time counselling online. This reinforced my loved of helping people and soon realised the demand for support during this time, especially among families with children who have specific needs.

I assisted many people but wanted to do more, I can't share the exact details of stories but one in particular broke my heart, I counselled a parent of a child with disabilities when they were sick and living on the street due to COVID-19.

I decided I was going to make the most of lock down and applied to universities telling them how I wanted to help children in abusive homes and children with disabilities in school settings, hospital settings, and support families as I have seen first hand the support an entire family requires when looking after a child with disabilities.

To my surprise I was bombarded with acceptance letters, I received 7 when I wasn't expecting to receive any.

About my studies:

I completed a Bachelors of Psychological Science at Griffith University in Queensland Australia and decided to have a gap year in 2020 of travelling Europe as a reward. I have since decided to live here with my British citizenship.

I've now accepted my offer into one of the top universities in the UK (Bristol University). The fee is 8,500 GBP (15,600 AUD).

Unfortunately, as I am not in Australia, the Australian government will not help me with any funding (Understandable). Sadly, the UK government has refused to give me the "Student loan" despite being a citizen, because I have not lived in the UK for 3 years making me ineligible. Additionally, I cannot get a bank loan, I am not eligible for any charity or scholarship (and trust me I have looked at every scholarship there is), and the university cannot help me. Therefore, in order to help families and children with disabilities, or in abusive households, I am going to have to self fund. Which I am willing to try my best to do. I am dedicated to this cause and helping children who may not be able to help themselves. I believe in the healthy emotional and physical upbringing of all children and am dedicated to providing this as best I can.

If you are able or willing to even donate £1 /dollar that would be more helpful than you could imagine. I am looking through cupboards, bottom of cars, in purses for every coin or note I can find to put this towards my degree.

Additionally I will be running a marathon in September and am offering and incentive of printing your logo on my shirt if you donate £50. I have other prizes to be won as an incentive listed below. If you are unable to donate, even passing this on to a few people you think might be able to help me out would be absolutely amazing
