The Hockey Mentors is a project run by people in the hockey family for people in the hockey family. We believe that all junior performance players should have access to high quality training and support, regardless of their current circumstances, background, geographical location and education. Our vision is a sport that is truly accessible. We aim to bring people together, to build connections and confidence and to allow young players with barriers to success to feel valued, heard and supported. Our unique mentoring system brings those who have experience of the talent pathways and high level hockey together with those at the beginning of their journey, providing unmatched and invaluable opportunities to learn from one another and develop as both players and people. Through high-performance in-person days, tactical sessions, life skill sessions and Q&A sessions junior players are provided with well rounded support for life on and off the hockey pitch and platforms on which to share their experiences and relate to each other.
The money we raise will help to provide free spaces on the hockey mentors programme, allowing more people in hard to reach demographics to access this support. It will also allow us to subsidise our dedicated mentors, without whom we would not be able to provide such high quality support.
