High School Musical School/Community production

To raise £3000 to help fund the School production of High School Musical and to buy resources that can be used by all for future productions

We did it!

On 9th Nov 2017 we successfully raised £195 with 5 supporters in 28 days

Disney's High School Musical Caerleon Comprehensive - Friends of Caerleon

On Monday 23rd October through to Wednesday 25th October 2017 Caerleon Comprehensive will be putting on a fantastic extraganza performance of Disney's High School Musical.   A group of students whose age ranges from 12  through to 18 have been practising their lines and their moves in the hope that they will be picked. The successful cast have rehearsed tirelessly for the last month and half to deliver a performance that would not look out of place on the West End.  The part that you do not see is the raft of volunteers who not only are helping out on the night but also in the build up.  It really is an all embracing school event and one that we can be proud of.  The experiences that the crew and performers gain from these events stay with them as cherished memories for years to come, as well as their photos adorning the walls as mementos of a fantastic show.

So why are we on here?

Well in order to run a production we need to break even.  We are selling tickets and programmes as well as refreshments on the day but unfortunately school productions cost money, and although we are doing all we can within school to cover the costs a little extra here and there would help us achieve this goal alongside allowing us to generate resources that can be used in drama lessons and future productions.

So what is the money for?

The money raised is to go to the Schools registered charity Friends of Caerleon, here the money will be used to pay off suppliers of equipment as follows:

Believe it or not the school needs to pay royalties for production rights and they come in at £840.00.

The school does have lights and speakers but unless we just want the lights on or off we have to hire in equipment to make all of the efforts of the cast and crew worthwhile.  Buying the equipment is too costly so the school will need to hire at a cost of £2,250.

The DT department and school have made as much of the set as possible but this costs money and there are certain parts the school cannot make.  To hire in the set will cost £2,250.

This is a snap shot of the main 'big costs' that the fundraising aims to help to contribute towards?

How much do I need to donate/sponsor?

It is up to you!  No amount is too big or to small, it all helps us to achieve our goal and put on a production that we can all be proud of.

Thank you for taking the time to look at our page, we would love to see you on the night, and tickets can be bought from the School reception in advance if you are interested.

Many thanks the HSM production team and Friends of Caerleon
