Vital support to help Heslam Park through these tough times ahead and bounce back stronger than ever.

by Colin Chapman in Scunthorpe, England, United Kingdom

Since the beginning of March our club, home to both Scunthorpe RUFC & Scunthorpe Town Cricket Club has battled its way to survive and work under the new COVID world we live in. This has seen a disruption to the cricket season which only achieved a vey short amount of games &  the complete cancellation of our SRUFC senior rugby season until September 2021. We have tried to be creative including the hosting of our first ever football games for CDF Republic of Heslam in a bid to bring live sport to a community who love it so much.

We and with the support of our members and guests have tried so hard to keep afloat after suffering losses of over £120,000 in revenue plus with running costs of over £4,000 a month, this latest lockdown has come as a body blow for all concerned at Heslam Park.

This is why we have set up this crowdfunding page to raise funds for a Covid 19 Relief fund as we hope to bounce back better than ever ready to welcome you all to our amazing community hub.

Over the course of the year we lost a great man in Louie Clayton who did so much for Scunthorpe RUFC. We hoped to honour his memory with a nearly revamped front room to be unveiled as the "Louie Clayton Lounge" for everyone to enjoy. At present this isn't possible and frustrating to all who want to improve a room that hasn't be touched in over 30 years and create a amazing new space for an inspirational man.

This is where we need your help. Times are going to be tough and we hope you can all appeal to both friends and family to let them know about our crowdfunding page, including many who live far and wide and still have the club in their hearts.

Lets show what a great community Scunthorpe is and help the club bounce back stronger than ever!
