Hello. I'm the Herne Hill piano. You've all loved me over the years, I've entertained you, kept the children busy, made you feel safe, brought the square to life, opened my arms to everyone, but now, I'm shattered. I've been played hard, children have hammered my keys, I've been showered in lagers and sprinkled with pigeon poo. As a result, my keys are worn, my pedals rattle and I feel the damp in my frame. I'm getting to be very high maintenance.
As a film star and local celeb, I feel it's time to draw the final curtain and give myself a rest.
I can't put off my retirement much longer. I'm on my last piano legs and I'd love to hand over to a newer and younger model. I need you to show your appreciation.
Far be it for me to trumpet about my own merits, but my heir needs to be a solid workhorse that is weather resistant, knock resistant, damp resistant, up for being wheeled around, cranked about and loved roughly by the community. It's got to last for a good many years. So we've taken expert advice from our lovely local piano man Roy, and sourced a fine young specimen that ticks all these boxes. Not your 90 quid job off eBay, but a piano built to last in tough and unusual conditions.
Can you help raise £5000 for a newer piano, its delivery, amazing artwork, a new lock and a portion towards piano events? Will you do your bit to keep the music playing in Herne Hill?
