NEVER STRUGGLE ALONE We are a confidential and anonymous helpline supporting individuals from the Jewish Community facing challenges.

by The Helpline in Salford, England, United Kingdom

New stretch target

We will hire case workers so that each service-user will be assigned a caseworker who will provide full case management, and who will support an individual or the whole family to ensure they receive the holistic support they need, such as referral to parenting classes, or counselling etc, and for as long as is needed.

Counselling
For those individuals or families who require additional ongoing support or for one-off interventions, we will provide them with the best available counsellor to help them.

This new project will benefit 2,000 people from the Orthodox Jewish community who have a unique set of cultural, language and religious sensitivities, who do not access mainstream services and find it far easier to connect with members of their own or closely aligned members of their community where there is a clear understanding of their background and needs.

WE LISTEN

All calls are taken by trained volunteers who are there to listen to our callers.

WE VALIDATE

We show sensitivity to our callers by validating their experiences.

WE SUPPORT

Where appropriate we signpost to the right agencies and professionals.

It’s no secret that so many people around us are suffering silently. Or is it? Until recently, the stigma and denial surrounding mental health and suffering were perpetrated by the fear of ‘opening up’ about such problems.

Yet, we all know how beneficial it is to be able to speak to someone about something that is disturbing us. It is with this in mind that The Helpline was established in 2019 in Manchester, UK. With the guidance and encouragement of the communities leaders and mental-health professionals, The Helpline has chartered a new path in the community.

Since its inception, The Helpline has extended a listening ear to thousands of people of all ages and walks of life. We have already seen great success in alleviating the burden of those struggling to bear the weight of their fears and worries.

In June 2021 alone we had:
Hundreds of calls from across UK,
Over 6,000 minutes helping people.

The difference the Helpline makes is in providing a free and confidential support line for people who feel they have no one else to turn to and to ensure that every person has somewhere to turn for help and emotional support at their point of need.

While the Samaritans is a well-renown crisis organization, the Helpline will benefit the Orthodox Jewish community who have a unique set of cultural, language, and religious sensitivities that mean very few, if any, would ring a mainstream helpline.

The Helpline is for anyone who is experiencing distress in their lives and feels they have nowhere to turn either, through fear or shame, or lack of a personal support network.
