I have always adored all animals, especially donkeys. When I was growing up myself and a friend would look after a small herd for an old lady in return for rides as our parents couldn't afford to buy us ponies. It was then that I became besotted and vowed when I met my husband 28 years ago that one day we would have a couple. After much hard work we now live with donkeys in our garden, seven of them in fact, plus a miniature pony called Ted.
Everybody who comes to see us falls in love with them and we always have a queue of friends wanting to come over just to see them. They are such kind and placid souls and can get terribly abused. We have rehomed the majority of our donkeys with the exception of Percy and Arthur our two miniature donkeys.
Due to Covid 19 our small cat hotel which we run from home has been very quiet so I have been working on setting up my dream business of donkey therapy. Our donkeys adore going out and being fussed and I never have enough hands to give them all the love that they insist upon daily.
We want to give back to others less fortunate and are well aware of the many people suffering with their mental health as a result of the pandemic. We want to be able to offer our donkey therapy services to anyone in need free of charge, our donkeys are very good at helping people to relax and smile. Our main business will be taking people on walks around the farm with our donkeys, visiting care homes, attending weddings and any other trips which we think they will enjoy. We also want to offer free visits to both hospices and childrens hospitals where the donkeys can help raise smiles again. Our donkeys really do love people and are very affectionate and adore going out on visits.
The reason we are using crowdfunding is to start the business and we need your help. Natwest have agreed to match funding if we can raise £5000 by 100 different backers. This money would really kick start the business and help me to start running my dream business and helping others. My dream is to replace their old shed with a new therapy barn where people can come and relax among the donkeys in comfort and all funds raised will go towards this, any other funds raised will go towards purchasing a horsebox to take the donkeys out on visits once the pandemic is over.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
