New stretch target

We'll re-invest any additional funding into creating more opportunities for local people - projects aimed at younger musicians, supporting the development of local talent and attracting more people to support locally produced music.

Why We Need Your Help

In our 30+ years of providing support for artists, promoters and auiences, we’ve never made a big deal out of being a charity.  We know as an organisation that makes music and creates enjoyable, artistic events that we are a long way back in the queue behind some other very worthy causes.

We’ve always got by with the money our loyal customers put over our bars and box office – along with funds to run projects for our local community.

But COVID-19 has changed all of that.

The precautions to control this awful and the closure of our buildingsvirus has devastated our programme of gigs - and has seriously interrupted our work with emerging grass roots musicians.

We are a truly independent organisation - managed on behalf of local music activists by people who have been involved in making music for many years...

If COVID-19 ends up reducing our work permanently - that will have a massive impact upon the development of local talent - as well as severely reducing the social lives of the thousands of people who enhance their well-being by attending gigs and supporting artists.

Although grateful whatever support we can get from the government - it sadly won't replace the thousands of people that visit our events and premises each year providing the income that we need to cover our costs - most of which haven't gone away.

Who We are and What We Do

We are Tees Music Alliance, a small music charity - based in the north east of England.

Our buildings provide a range of services for local music activists - the artists, songwriters and promoters - who in turn add to the cultural offer of our area.

We have a small team of people, dedicated to making sure that emerging artists are given the best possible platform to showcase their talent.

We've run The Georgian Theatre in Stockton-on-Tees for over 25 years - and we've seen thousands of artists performing on our stage; entertaining hundreds of thousands of local audience members.   Our wonderful venue dates back to 1766 and we are honoured to be its custodians.

On average, we host around 120 gigs and other events a year, working with around 180 or so artists – ranging from local emerging talent to established artists.  Over the years we’ve been entertained by The Arctic Monkeys, King Creosote, The Charlatans, The Wonder Stuff, Mystery Jets, The Skids, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, Dreadzone, The Howl and The Hum and The Futureheads.

We are proud of being a fully accessible venue – with a Bronze award from national disability champions Attitude Is Everything – and in 2019 we were named as one of the UKs top ten most accessible venues by Motability.

Over and above making music – we run a range of projects tackling social isolation, employment training for young people and supporting volunteers to work with a local community radio station.

What Will Your Support Mean to Us?

By supporting us in our work, it means that we will be able to continue our work with local emerging musicians; offering them space to perform and the support they need to help them improve and connect with the wider music industry.

Your support will also enable us to continue programming some excellent touring artists – often in partnership with other local promoters - offering local audiences the chance to see some first class music performed on their doorstep.

Above all, it means that the work we started many years ago can continue – adding to the social and economic life of our area; helping us to help local talent to thrive.

What We’ll Do With Your Money

We will pour everything that we raise into maintaining our ability to stage shows, provide advice for artists and to keep in touch with our audiences and partners – protecting our venue from the worst of the impact from COVID-19.

We’ll be able to continue programming great gigs for local people to attend, we’ll be able to continue showcasing our wonderful local talent and we’ll be able to provide the support that emerging musicians and other music activists need.

Roughly speaking, £5 covers the travel costs of one of our volunteers, £100 would pay a sound engineer for making a gig sound great, £500 covers our electricity bill for a month – but collectively, your donations will help us to keep a wonderful community facility alive and operational.

We've put together what we hope is a nice set of rewards - but any size donation; even a quid would be of great help to us.

Thank You from All of Us…

Tees Music Alliance is a small staff team led by a volunteer board of Trustees – each an ordinary member of the public working in arrange of everyday occupations including  music, health and education.  We all do what we do because we believe that local talent and local audiences deserve to have access to top quality music and music facilities.

Please help us to get through to the other side of this dreadful crisis - so that we can continue our work for many more years to come...

Many, many thanks for listening to our story – and thank you for your support.  It will make a difference.  In the meantime, please stay safe, stay healthy, look after each other; and we’ll see everyone on the other side of this thing…

Love from all at Tees Music Alliance x
