During my Foundation Degree in Learning Support, I discovered my passion for supporting children and their families through difficult times and finding ways to empower and motivate positive change. I opted to do my top-up year studying BA (Hons) Integrated Working with Children and Families where I have gained a deeper understanding of integrated and collaborative working across agencies. My studies this year has confirmed that my passion is in social work and have been offered a place on the MA Social Work at the University of Worcester starting in September 2019.
My local area, Hereford, is in short supply of social workers resulting in a lack of assistance for families in need of early interventions and support to help them through the most difficult times in their lives. When I have successfully completed the Masters degree I intend to have a long career within the Herefordshire Council social work team.
Unfortunately, masters funding is in short supply and although I have worked full time around my undergraduate studies, I will have to resign from my current role as a teaching assistant to complete the placement elements of the postgraduate course.
The money you help me to raise will replace my lost income, and help support my five children through my studies.
