Dear friends and fans,
It goes without saying that we are amidst incredibly difficult times and my thoughts go out to anyone and everyone who's being affected by everything that's going on. We're certainly not the only venue who's experiencing an uncertain future and I hope that all of us can make it through to the other side.
Whilst our health and the health of our loved ones is the priority at the moment I still plan to do everything I can to secure the future of my little venue and my main goal is just to be in a position to reopen my doors when we have all finally come through these crazy times.
For three years now I have provided a platform and a stage for our amazing local (and sometimes not local) artists to showcase their talent and show our fantastic customers a good time. That has always been my aim. The talent we have in the North East is incredible and I thank you all for what you do for us. I just want people to have fun and enjoy themselves at Billy's. Seeing people of all ages and from all walks of life coming together, sipping a moonshine and trying a pickleback for the first time whilst a rockin band do their thing on stage is what it's all about for me. I was inspired by the dive bars of America and the diverse crowd they attract and that's what we try to recreate here at Billy's. Everybody is welcome. We have a loyal following and we love and appreciate you all.
Next I'd like to mention our team. From Chris the doorman (best in Newcastle, if not the world) to our bartenders, DJ's, photographers, cleaners and sound engineers. They're all amazing and like everyone, they don't deserve to be in the position they have found themselves in. I have promised to do everything I can to support them but as a small business owner there is only so much I can do. They have all been incredibly supportive of myself and the venue through all this and for that I would like to publicly thank them.
The government have helped us by way of a grant and business rates reliefs but unfortunately that help is only going to go so far and with zero income the outgoings such as rent, insurance and paying suppliers etc will soon be mounting up. As much as possible I don't want to leave other local businesses in even trickier situations than they are already in and want to pay these people as they're all going through the same difficult times as we are.
How can you help?
Well, we don't have gig tickets (as all our gigs are free.....just getting that in there again) or items to offer you as such, however, what we do have is BOOZE. If you're a fan our our work and are planning on visiting us again one day then maybe you could donate to help us in exchange for what we're all really missing during this lockdown...Pints of cold beer, cocktails and of course Billy's famous apple pie Moonshine. I'm thinking that I could DOUBLE the amount you donate for you to spend at the bar. This can be used as and when you like and spread over more than one visit.
Thank you for spending the time to read all this (not that you've got much to do at the moment) and thank you in advance for your help, support and donation if you're in a position to do so. I can't wait to see you after all this in what is sure to be the biggest party this country has seen in a long time. Just imagine that week we're all allowed back out again........
