We are a Kenyan NGO affiliated to the UN volunteer Program. We work on local projects and for the next school year ( begins January in Kenya )
We have a Grant program : every years identify 5 pupils to enroll in the secondary school. In the long term we plan to enroll 5 new students every year in secondary school program. For the second semester of 2018 we need your help.
The schools fees are around 700$ per school year. Many families can’t pay it. We want to offer to promising students who want to continue their education a chance to get to secondary school.
The scholarships will support students - from Sabaot, Bukusu and Iteso communities, where land and political conflicts are typical during election periods and often result in internally displaced persons (IDPs), deaths, rape cases, separation of families, HIV infections, among other issues.
The youth identified by CDS Kenya are from this marginalized region, currently in their 8th year of studies, and will be completing their Kenya Certificate Primary Education (KCPE) in November, at which point they wish to start High School.
We identified 4 girls and 1 boy. We chose more girls because in general Girls are less sent in secondary school than boys because of the « boy preference », if parents cant’ pay school fee for all their children they tend to send boys rather than girls.
We will send per email to all the donors a copy of the school registration form and fees payments for the 5 students in January at the beginnind of the school's year.. And we will keep you posted on their work.
