2020 has been a tough year for the performing arts. Two lockdowns have all but closed venues for the majority of the year. Artists have had limited opportunity to perform and it has been hard for them to reach their audiences.
At LIVR we have always used technology to connect artists and audiences. During the lockdown, we have been able to offer consumers access to shows that we had previously captured in full 360-degree VR environments but the ability to capture new content has been restricted.
This is what we would like to address with this project. We believe it is possible to capture new performing arts content in a COVID safe environment, but we need to develop a process to do so.
By creating an approach that allows us to record new performances we will be able to offer artists a chance to digitally connect with people. For consumers, they will be able to enjoy a wave of new of - and possibly made for - digital content during the lockdown and beyond.
If venues stay closed longer it means that there is a viable option for artists to still create work that audiences can enjoy.
