We did it
On 6th June 2019 we successfully raised £1,805 with 31 supporters in 28 days

We want to replace the cramped shelter access with stairs so we can share our unique original WW2 air raid shelter with more people.

I was so impressed when I visited the shelter recently as a Brighton Fringe event. We need to keep such history alive in the eyes of children for them to appreciate what was done by so many for this country's freedom. Keep up the good work

Such an incredible historical resource. This shelter and museum should be experienced and appreciated by all - young and old. The shelter is situated beneath a school playground. The Take Shelter experience brings to life what the school children and local community would have endured during a an air raid in the 1940s. It's in remarkable condition, and filled with fascinating artefacts, authentic photographs and video documentaries. It really is an interactive, multi-sensory, inspiring and life-changing history lesson.

We need more places like this for our children to learn our history Everyone has done outstanding work on this project

I was really impressed by the fantastic work you have already carried out and it would be great for those less mobile to be able to visit the shelter too.

A great idea to get the less abled a better access to see the shelter and the artifacts as a memory of what life was like in wartime Britian

I'm very happy to support a local project that reminds us all of our history - I don't believe we should glorify war, but we must remember what happened. My father's gas board job (before being called up) meant he had to attend fires/bombed houses on the night of the Sheffield blitz to make the gas supply safe. It must have been dangerous and frightening.

Wow! I remember the air raid shelters at both grandparents houses in the Midlands when I was a kid. We should never forget these terrible wars and what was done to protect ordinary people
