East Renfrewshire Cricket Club have been working tirelessly for the last 4 years to promote cricket within the local authority.
Starting with 17 children and a borrowed kit bag we have now established ourselves as one of the fastest growing cricket clubs in the West Of Scotland. Led by their effervescent coach and Junior Convenor, Ammar's passion drives the club with help from the committee, members, parents and volunteers. The club is in the heart of the community and through their partnership approach have delivered over 300 hours of curricular, extra-curricular and community cricket sessions to over 500 participants. The club coaches have also been instrumental in organising inter-authority tournaments for schools within East Renfrewshire, taking them to various venues across the country to compete. The club now has its own indoor facility at the Barrhead Foundry and has just secured their own ground at Woodfarm in Giffnock. We now have 5 junior teams and over 80 children playing in the regional leagues, we have certainly added value to the sport within Scotland!.
An outdoor batting cage was purchased last year at a cost £1000.00 from various fund raising events, however, unfortunately, that has now been terminally damaged by vandals just as the outdoor season will start. We need a batting cage in order for the children to advance their skills in that area. We have sourced another batting cage which we can chain to our containers and believe this will be much harder to vandalise, however, the cost of this is much higher and we would like to request that you, the caring public make a donation so it does not stop the development of our junior members.
Every penny counts and no donation is too small.
I would like to thank everybody in advance for having a read and the hope is that we raise enough funds to buy another batting cage for our juniors who can bat their hearts out over the summer months.
